Travel Support

Each competitor is responsible for his/her travel expenses. In case competitors residing outside Japan pass the preliminary round and come to Japan for the Semifinal/Final Round, the SKIPC committee provide support for travel expenses specified below.

※Competitors must inform the Secretariat as soon as possible when the place of residents changes after sending the application.

Order of Performances

The order of performances shall be decided at random by the Committee, and cannot be changed for personal reasons of the competitors.

Performance in Competition

The Competition is open to the general public.
All performances during the Competition may be distributed on the internet, e.g. the SKIPC official website.

Practice Piano

During the Semifinal Round and the Final Round, the following practice opportunities will be provided free of charge to the competitors who wish to use a practice room.

  • ・Semifinalists…3 hours
  • ・Finalists………5 hours


Jury members appointed by the SKIPC committee shall judge the performances through the competition. The Jury’s decision is final and no objections or complaint cannot be accepted.

  • ①Opportunities to perform at concerts/recitals organized by Kawai Musical Inst. Mfg. Co., Ltd. for one year after the competition.
  • ②Opportunities to take master classes/seminars.

Prizewinners’ Concert

Prizewinners’ Concert will be held at Kawai Omotesando Concert Salon “Pause” on August 5, 2017. High-ranking winners must agree to perform at the concert.
The program should be selected from the pieces played in the Final Round and Semifinal Round. Performance fee for this concert shall not be paid.



Competitors must obtain the necessary visa to visit. If an invitation letter or any other documents are required for visa application, the applicant must contact the Secretariat.


Competitors are responsible for purchasing insurance for health, injury, accident, fire, theft and damage to personal belongings.

Deal with Personal Information

Personal Information provided at the time of application will be managed and used correctly by the Secretariat in accordance with the policy of the SKIPC committee.
The Secretariat may use the information to send the useful information to the competitors and/or teachers by direct mail and/or e-mail, and the competitor should contact the Secretariat if he/she does not need them.


All the performances, broadcasting rights, recording, filming and photography in the competition and concert which are related to the competition belong to the SKIPC committee. The competitor cannot claim the rights to them.

Legal Guidelines

Any problems that occur in regard to these guidelines will be settled according to the original Japanese version of these guidelines and Japanese Law.
