I would like to say a few words on the occasion of the launch of the 4th Shigeru Kawai International Piano Competition in 2022.
Many excellent young pianists from all over the world participated in the previous three editions of the competition and gave wonderful performances. The fourth competition, which was scheduled to be held in 2021, has unfortunately been postponed until 2022 due to the global pandemic. I hope that effective measures against Covid-19 can continue to be taken in the near future to allow people to move around freely while remaining safe leading up to the event, and that more pianists will be able to participate in the competition.
Moreover, I sincerely hope that the venues will be filled with your appreciate for music and the passionate performances on Shigeru Kawai pianos. Continuing from the second and third competitions, Prof. Andrey Pisarev and Prof. Pavel Nersesyan will perform the orchestra part of the participant’s selected piano concerto in the final round. The jury members are all looking forward to their excellent musical accompaniment.
We received a lot of support and cooperation for this competition. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone involved. (Greetings as of October 2021)
