Travel Support

Each competitor is responsible for his/her travel expenses. In case competitors residing outside Japan pass the Pre-selection and come to Japan for the Competition, the SKIPC committee provide support for travel expenses specified below.

※Competitors must inform the Secretariat as soon as possible when the place of residents changes after sending the application.

Accommodation Support

Accommodation cost including breakfast will be borne by the SKIPC committee only for a hotel designated by the Secretariat from July 27, 2023, two days prior to the 1st Round until the next morning after the competitor's participation ended. Competitors from overseas can stay one more night considering time for arranging a return flight, etc.

※Competitors residing in Kanto region, Japan, are not eligible for this Accommodation Support.

Order of Performances

The order of performances in Pre-selection (Japan) shall be decided at random by the Committee.
The order of performances from 1st Round to Final Round shall be decided by lottery on July 28, 2023. If the competitor cannot attend the lottery for unavoidable reasons, the Secretariat will draw lots on behalf of him/her.

Performance in Competition

The Competition is open to the general public. All performances during the Competition may be distributed on the internet, e.g. the SKIPC official website.

Practice Piano

From the day prior to the 1st Round, the following practice opportunities will be provided free of charge to the competitors who wish to use a practice room.

  • ・1st Round Competitors … 3 hours / day
  • ・Semifinalists …………… 4 hours / day
  • ・Finalists ………………… 5 hours / day

※Finalists will have rehearsals with the accompanist on August 3 and 4, 2023.

Aug 4, 2023 - Shibuya Cultural Center Owada "Sakura Hall"

Judgment

Jury members appointed by the SKIPC Committee shall judge the performances through the Competition. The Jury's decision is final and no objections or complaints cannot be accepted.

※Other awards may be presented by the parties who support the Competition.

※The prize money shown above are amounts after deduction of income taxes in Japan.

※If there is a tie, the prize money for that rank and the next rank will be split between the winners of that rank.

b) Additional Prize for the First Prize Winner

  • ・The First Prize Winner will be given opportunities to perform at concerts/recitals organized by Kawai Musical Inst. Mfg. Co., Ltd. for one year after the competition.

Prizewinners’ Concert

Prizewinners’ Concert will be held at Kawai Omotesando Concert Salon “Pause” on August 6, 2023. Top prize winners must agree to perform at the concert.
The program should be selected from the pieces played in the Competition. Performance fee for this concert shall not be paid.

  • First Prize Winner: within 30 min.
  • Second Prize Winner: within 25 min.
  • Third Prize Winner: within 20 min.
  • Fourth Prize Winner: 10-15 min.
  • Fifth Prize Winner: 10-15 min.
  • Sixth Prize Winner: 10-15 min.

Others

Visa

Competitors must obtain the necessary visa to visit.
If an invitation letter or any other documents are required for visa application, the competitor must contact the Secretariat.

Insurance

Competitors are responsible for purchasing insurance for health, injury, accident, fire, theft and damage to personal belongings.

Deal with Personal Information

Personal Information provided at the time of application will be managed and used correctly by the Secretariat in accordance with the policy of the SKIPC committee.

Copyright

All the performances, broadcasting rights, recording, filming and photography in the competition and concert which are related to the competition belong to the SKIPC committee. The competitor cannot claim the rights to them.

Legal Guidelines

Any problems that occur in regard to these guidelines will be settled according to the original Japanese version of these guidelines and Japanese Law.
