It is my great pleasure to announce that the 5th Shigeru Kawai International Piano Competition will be held in Tokyo in the summer of 2025. With each passing edition, I have witnessed passionate performances and feel very encouraged by the continuous improvement in the level and quality of the contestants. We warmly welcome participants from all over the world once again. Please showcase your performances filled with your unique ideas and strong passion. Together with the distinguished jury members, I am looking forward to listening to your performances.

The Shigeru Kawai grand piano, utilized in the Competition, is celebrating its 25th anniversary and has been favored by many pianists. I sincerely hope that the expressive and beautiful sounds produced by your skills on this wonderful instrument will reach the hearts of the audience.
