Before applying for the 5th SKIPC, please read and accept the following “Treatment of Personal Data.”

Treatment of Personal Data for the 5th Shigeru Kawai International Piano Competition

Kawai Musical Inst. Mfg. Co., Ltd. and Shigeru Kawai International Piano Competition Committee (hereafter called “the Company”) handle personal data provided by participants of the competition in accordance with contents in this Consent.

(Purpose of Use of Personal Data)

The Company shall use personal data for the purpose of entry process of the 5th Shigeru Kawai International Piano Competition, smooth management of the competition, future training support for participants, utilization for the company’s advertising and the like.

(Collection of Personal Data)

The Company shall collect personal data including application form, headshot, various certificates, video data and the like through appropriate and fair means.

(Utilization of Personal Data)

The company shall utilize personal data within the scope of purpose of use. The Company shall not utilize personal data provided by participants in application beyond the necessity to fulfill the purpose of use without consent from the person in question.

(Jointly Use of Personal Data)

Among collected personal data, the Company may jointly use the Company’s group companies in Japan and overseas for data in the minimum necessary range such as name, nationality, address, age, date of birth, sex, email address and the like. The Company shall be responsible for jointly use of personal data.

(Provision of Personal Data to a Third Party)

The Company shall not provide personal data to a third party except the following cases;

  • ・When the participant agrees
  • ・In the case where handling of personal data is entrusted, when the personal data is handled within the scope of the achievement of the purpose of use (e.g. Name and head shot is provided to a printing agency for creating the competition program booklet)
  • ・Cases in which the provision of personal data is necessary for the protection of the life, body or property of an individual and in which it is difficult to obtain consent of the participant (e.g. When the participant is suffered from sudden illness)
  • ・Cases in which the provision of personal data is necessary for cooperating with a state institution, local public body, or an individual or entity entrusted by one in executing the operations prescribed by laws and in which obtaining the consent of the participant might impede the execution of the operations concerned (e.g. Declaration of withholding income tax on prize)

(Transfers of Personal Data outside of Japan)

The Company may transfer personal data to the third countries outside of Japan within the scope of purpose of use. The Company shall take appropriate protection.

(Security Control of Personal Data)

The Company shall take appropriate security control against risks such as unauthorized access to personal data, loss, leakage, etc. and strive to store and manage data.

(Data Retention Period)

The Company shall maintain personal data to the extent necessary for the purpose of smooth contact to participants, processing requests inquired by participants and business development for the Company. The Company shall immediately erase personal data if the Company no longer needs personal data.

(Disclosure, Correction and Deletion of Personal Data)

When any participant indicates request such as usage purpose notification, disclosure, correction, addition, deletion and rejection of utilization or provision, the participant shall, in accordance with procedure linked to the following URL, send request to the Company.

(Withdrawal of Consent)

Any participant may withdraw this consent. However, it does not affect the legitimacy of processing personal data until the date of withdrawal.

(Right to lodge a Complaint to Data Protection Supervisory Authority)

If the participant is not satisfied with the way in which the Company has proceeded with any request, or if the participant has any complaint regarding the way in which the Company processes personal data, the participant may lodge a complaint with a Data Protection Supervisory Authority.
